The Abbess’s Hall
Vaulted ceilings, painted walls, and arched windows gazing over the valley. This was the beating heart of castle life. Here, sipping a coffee or leafing through a good book takes on a whole new meaning.
The Chapel of Saint Gotthard
At the garden’s western edge lie the remnants of the 12th-century chapel, reimagined by artist Michael Meraner. “Und immer wieder geht die Sonne auf…” — And still, the sun rises. Reflective materials and golden geometry breathe light and life back into these ancient ruins.
The Chapel of Saint Vigilius
Possibly the castle’s oldest core, this quiet sanctuary sits at the summit of the hill, once devoted to retreat and reflection, now embraced by towering walls and lush gardens.
The Gardens
Seventeen distinct gardens embrace the castle, each with its own identity. From the Apothekengarten, where medicinal herbs grow, to the Abbess’s Garden, every corner offers a scent, a season, a story. Indigenous plants flourish alongside ancient varieties in a landscape that honours the rocky alpine terrain.
The Church and Crypt
Dating back to the 11th century, these remnants offer rare glimpses into the architecture of their time: apses, naves, and precisely layered stonework. Traces of frescoes remain, along with the foundation of a crypt from 1030, now among the most evocative spaces to explore.
