Outdoor life
From the castle, the eye follows the silhouette of the Dolomites as it shifts with the seasons. Here, where the valleys meet, movement becomes the measure of time.
As the snow melts, the valley reveals its brightest side. Light pours through the castle’s tall windows, drawing you out into a landscape in constant transformation: forests in bloom, sweeping valleys, trails simply waiting to be walked.
On foot, by bike, on the water or above the peaks, every horizon becomes a new destination.
From the castle, trails wind through the forests above San Lorenzo di Sebato, climb the slopes towards Falzes, or lead to the natural rock formations of the Perca Earth Pyramids. A journey that ends in the stillness of quiet clearings and alpine lakes, surrounded by wildlife and the scent of pine, lavender and resin.
In summer, water is the soul of this land, flowing from the glaciers down into the valley, through lakes, rivers and waterfalls. In the Anterselva Valley, known as the Blue Valley, turquoise alpine lakes offer a quiet kind of welcome. Further east, in Valle Aurina, the Riva di Tures Waterfalls bring a different energy entirely: kinetic, dramatic, best seen along the Sentiero di San Francesco.
The Puster Valley is made for those who see two wheels as a kind of freedom. From the technical single trails of the Plan de Corones bike park to the flatter routes through Brunico and San Vigilio, every ride passes through the region’s food culture, local tradition, and the geometry of the Dolomite peaks.
At the foot of Plan de Corones, Golf Club Pustertal sits naturally within the mountain landscape. A nine-hole course where technical precision meets the grandeur of the Dolomites. Guests of the castle enjoy free, unlimited play throughout the Club’s opening season, with green fees included in their stay*.

In the Dolomites, changing your perspective means defying gravity. From the slopes of Campo Tures or Plan de Corones, you take the run-up, feel your heart rate climb, then trust the air to carry you. Paragliding reveals the mountain range in a way you don’t expect: from above, the valley opens up in complete silence beneath your feet.

Wellbeing finds its purest form in the silence of the forest. Among the centuries-old spruce and Swiss pine surrounding the castle, immersing yourself in the woodland becomes a quiet, conscious dialogue with the natural world. Moss underfoot, the scent of resin in the air, a calm that settles over body and mind. The forest becomes a natural refuge for the senses, in a retreat that is, in every sense, sustainable.
The castle sits at the crossroads of snow-covered valleys that stretch out as far as the eye can see. A base for those chasing the thrill of the peaks or the silence of the high-altitude forests, and a gateway to a vast natural playground where every direction is an option.
Pausing on the ridge before the descent, feeling the cold air, then letting go. Just minutes from the castle, Plan de Corones is the beating heart of alpine skiing in the region: 120 kilometres of groomed pistes across twelve different routes, part of Dolomiti Superski, the largest ski circuit in the world. Beyond the slopes, the area is also home to museums such as LUMEN and the Reinhold Messner Mountain Museum, alongside fine dining at altitude. Sport, culture and cuisine, all in one place.

When the lakes freeze and the villages turn white, the mountain becomes a shared playground. Outdoor ice rinks, sledging runs, both natural and groomed, horse-drawn sleigh rides through hushed, snow-covered landscapes. There’s something here for every age.
The Puster Valley offers a network of well-kept trails suited to every kind of walker, from technical ascents for seasoned trekkers to gentle strolls through pine forests. The white of the Alpine landscape sharpens every sensation: the air, the silence, the soft, misty light on the horizon.
Originally devised to move through deep snow, snowshoes have become the way to reach the mountain’s most hidden corners. Around the castle, there’s no shortage of routes, from the walk to the Pervalle baths in Valdaora to the crossing between Monte Luta and Monte Dura in the Anterselva Valley. Beyond the marked paths, the landscape is untouched, and the mountain speaks a different language: quiet and deeply personal.
